Washington state's World Languages K-12 Learning Standards describe what students should be able to do with the language as they develop proficiency.
Learning Standards
The World Languages K-12 Learning Standards are adopted from the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century, as published by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
The Grade Level Standards & Resources provides quick access to all content standards along with aligned resources to support curriculum development, instructional practices, and assessment of student learning. Choose "World Languages" from the homepage menu.
The Washington State K-12 Learning Standards for World Language are currently in the Review and Revision Cycle. More information can be found on the?Washington State Learning Standards Review page.
Language Proficiency
This page reviews what language proficiency means, the ability to use a language naturally for real-world purposes across many topics, and outlines our goal of developing a system that allows K–12 bilingual students to earn world language credits by demonstrating their proficiency.
