Inclusionary Practices Technical Assistance Network (IPTN)

The IPTN supports schools to reduce exclusionary practices and segregated systems in Washington schools, especially for student groups who are frequently excluded from general education classrooms.

  • Comprehensive Inclusive Education
    Follow the 4-step process in the Comprehensive Inclusive Education guide to write inclusive IEPs and provide effective instruction in general education settings for any student receiving special education services. Companion documents are included to support school teams with implementing these practices. 
  • Extended Myths & Facts About Inclusionary Practices in Washington
    Use these resources to bust common myths about inclusion using decades of research that consistently show robust benefits from inclusionary practices. This guidance challenges misconceptions about inclusion, emphasizes the benefits of inclusive education for all students, and supports educators with strategies to overcome barriers. 
  • Reaching Every Learner Approach
    Reaching Every Learner is a resource for planning and instruction so all students can learn and make progress in grade level standards within the general education classroom. This resource builds off both the WA-AIM Access Points and  and provides examples of how to measure and support student understanding at various levels of complexity within the standards, specifically for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Four different case studies that show how to use the Reaching Every Learner companion tools are in development and will be posted soon!
